Under Ohio law, the term "alimony" is no longer used. It is called
"spousal support." Alimony or spousal support means "the
payment or payments to be made to a spouse or former spouse that is
both for sustenance and for support of the
spouse or former spouse"
during a separation or after a divorce. It is only granted to couples
who were legally married, and is often based upon the length of the
marriage. We will be happy to discuss these issues with you and explain
how they relate to your situation.
